The Rhythm Junkies are happy to welcome their newest member, Lacy de la Garza!
The Rhythm Junkies are excited to announce their 2010 scholarship winner, Emily Mikolitch!
Emily Mikolitch, age 15, a freshman in the theatre cluster at Booker T Washington High School of the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas, Texas, has had a passion for tap since she was five years old. In addition to performing as a soloist and an ensemble dancer in regional and national dance competitions, she was a member of The Drawbacks Youth Tap Ensemble lead by her long time teacher, Katelyn Harris. She traveled with them the last two summers to Chicago to attend Lane Alexander’s Chicago Human Rhythm Project where she studied with master teachers such as Jason Samuel Smith, Jason Janas, and Chloe Arnold and where, last year, she was chosen by Mr. Alexander to receive a scholarship to attend the conference in 2010. Emily has twice been selected from candidates across the country to participate in TAPKIDS, an intensive tap program in New York.
In addition to her studies and performances at Booker T. Washington, Emily has studied with Catherine Hartt at Hartt and Soul Acting Studio, and with Dallas Young Artist’s Mark Mullino and Vonda Bowling. She appeared last summer in the King and I, and previously in Oklahoma, The Wiz, Seussical and Schoolhouse Rock at Watertower Theater.
