Karen
Osborn Stanford
Dancer,
teacher, choreographer. Karen began her
dance training at age five in Tulsa, OK. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts
with distinction in dance from the University of Oklahoma. Karen has
post-graduate hours in both dance and exercise physiology. She has taught in
many dance schools, recreation centers, colleges, and universities in Oklahoma,
Utah, Alaska, and Texas. While living in Fairbanks, AK, she was the artistic
director and principal choreographer for Dance Omnium, the oldest dance
organization in Alaska. She was accepted into the Artists in the Schools
program and helped to organize the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival. She created
choreography for the Fairbanks Children’s Theatre, Fairbanks Drama Association,
and Fairbanks Children’s Chorus. Since moving to Texas Karen has served on the
Dance Council as co-chair of the Tap Committee. Karen continues her dance
training by participating in master classes with such tap artists as Dianne
Walker, Bril Barrett, Acia Gary, Lane Alexander, Jay Fagan, Sarah Petronio,
Heather Cornell, and many others. She teaches tap, jazz, modern, creative
movement, and ballet. Karen is one of the founding members of the Rhythm
Junkies and serves as Artist co-director and Business Manager for the company.
She shares her home with her husband, Kerry, two dogs, three cats and occasionally
two young adults, Sean and Caitlin.
